A Heartfelt Message to Our Families
If you’ve come across recent news stories about troubling events in some early learning centres, we want you to know we hear your concerns. As parents, it’s only natural to feel protective, cautious, and even a little anxious. At Happy Sprouts Early Learning Centre in Craigieburn, we’re here to reassure you: childcare safety, happiness, and dignity are the foundation of everything we do.
We know that trust isn’t built overnight. It’s earned through actions, transparency, and genuine care. So we want to show you, clearly and simply, what we do every day to keep your little ones safe, secure, and thriving
Creating a Safe Space for Every Child
At Happy Sprouts, we’ve created an environment where children are encouraged to explore and grow safely. Here are some of the practical steps we take to make sure every child is cared for and protected:
- Keeping Watch at All Times
Our indoor and outdoor areas are fitted with CCTV cameras, helping us maintain transparency and monitor every part of the centre.
- Focused on the Children—Always
Our staff are not allowed to use personal mobile phones during work hours. Their focus stays entirely on the children in their care.
- Respecting Every Child’s Privacy
To protect privacy, we kindly ask that parents and visitors don’t take photos inside the centre.
- Built for Visibility
We’ve designed our rooms with glass windows and doors, making supervision easy and open at all times.
- Learning Never Stops
Child safety is more than a rule. .it’s a mindset. That’s why our educators receive ongoing training on child safety and protection.
- Private Spaces Stay Private
Only staff are allowed in the children’s bathroom areas. This simple rule helps protect children’s privacy and maintains safe boundaries.
- Hands-On, Present Leadership
Our leadership team is actively involved throughout the day, in rooms, on the floor, and available to both staff and families.
- Supervision Plans for Every Area
Every room and outdoor space has a dedicated supervision plan in place, tailored to keep children safe and visible.
Hiring with Care and Accountability
We take great care in choosing who joins our team, because we know that who’s caring for your child matters deeply.
- All educators must have a valid Working with Children Check (WWC) or VIT registration.
- Every new hire goes through a two-reference check process.
- A police check is also required for all staff.
- Every team member signs a Code of Conduct that clearly outlines expected behaviours when working with children
All Visitors and Helpers Are Screened
We love having visitors who enrich our learning program, like musicians, sports coaches, therapists, and volunteers. But safety comes first:
- All guests must show a valid WWC before joining any activity.
- Even tradespeople like cleaners, gardeners, and IT specialists, many of whom work outside hours, are required to have a current WWC.
Safe and Monitored Technology
Only centre-provided devices (like iPads and laptops) are used by staff, and they are connected to a secure and monitored internet system to ensure responsible use.
- Any concerns from children, families, or staff are taken seriously and followed up with care.
- Our team is trained and empowered to report any reportable conduct quickly and appropriately.
A Safe Place to Grow and Belong
At Happy Sprouts, we don’t just talk about childcare safety — we live it. Every policy, every decision, and every action is rooted in our promise to protect, support, and uplift every child in our care.
We’re proud of the loving, safe environment we’ve created — and we’re honoured you’ve chosen us to be part of your child’s journey.
